✅ What is Houseparty app?
So we have to stay indoors. It’s happening and we all know it’s for the best. But there is an app, a FREE ? app that lets us stay in touch with our friends and family and even party with them, all without leaving your house.
What is this app? It’s called Houseparty app and you can download it here!
Think of Houseparty app like Snapchat but with video. It’s a bit like Skype, but lets you talk to lots of people, like a house party……
✅ Houseparty app tricks
There are a few houseparty app tricks and tips that make the whole experience of using this cool app a bit better:
- Mute the mic – Mute the mic if you’re talking to someone else at home but don’t want to leave the party
- Start a houseparty app game – click the dice in the top right hand corner, and choose one . of 4 free games to play at your party! The game closes after you’re done, or click the X to end it early.
- Lock the room – you’re able to lock the room if you only want to have certain people at your house party. Once the room is locked, your contacts will not get notifications the parties happening!
- Turn off the notifications – Sometimes we just want a little peace and quiet! Click the smiley face, top right, and you can turn off notifications for everyone or just certain people. It’s a very handy feature :)
- Be near a charger – Houseparty app drains your phone like you wouldn’t believe. However, since we’re all stuck in the house….sit next to a charger!
You jump in and out of ‘rooms’ and chat to different people, much as you would at a houseparty. It’s a simple concept, but it works really well.
There are also no in-app purchases, so you can use the full app, for free!
✅ How does Houseparty app work?
Houseparty app is pretty easy to join. Sign up, create a user name, give permission to the Houseparty app to connect your contacts and you’re good to go.
The one thing you need? Your friends to have the Houseparty app as well. There aren’t public parties to join, so you need your contacts to have downloaded the app.
It’s actually this feature that makes the app perfect for the kids to keep in touch with their friends. There’s no danger of them jumping into a chat with total strangers…the app can only connect with people in your contacts list.
If your friends are online, you’ll get a notification (assuming they have the app) and if they’re not online, they’ll get a notification that you are. They’ve then got the option to say hello, either as a wave or a video.
One thing to know is that you can only have 8 people at any one time in a ‘houseparty’. The screen bubbles are already quite small, and anymore than 8 would ruin the houseparty feel.
✅ Houseparty app notifications
Everytime someone from your contacts comes online, you get notified. Honestly, this can become a little annoying and there’s no settings to limit the notifications.
You can use the little bell icon to stop notifications from particular people which is fine for a temporary measure, but don’t forget to turn them back on again ore you won’t know when people are online.
✅ How to delete your account on houseparty app
Had enough of house party? You can easily delete your account:
Via the app:
- Open the Houseparty app and tap on the dots icon (top left)
- click on settings
- click privacy
- click DELETE ACCOUNT
Via email:
You can also request to have your account deleted by emailing: [email protected]
Let them have the registered email address you joined with, and ask for a confirmation when your account is deleted.

The Houseparty app only allows your child to invite people in their contacts to their houseparty. However, that said, the people your child invites can invite people in their contacts so your child could be chatting to people they don’t know.
